Hamilton was born on 7 January 1985 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire to Anthony Hamilton and Carmen Larbalestier.
His father is black and is of Grenadian descent, while his mother is White British from Birmingham, making Lewis mixed-race.
After the separation of his parents when he was two, Hamilton lived with his mother and older half-sisters until he was twelve.
